Mark Duckworth (Director)
MRAC Dip FM C BUILD FCABE CSTDB MFPWS AssocRICS RICS Registered Mediator & Valuer

In addition to managing the business, Mark undertakes detailed building surveys and valuations on a range of property types, including period buildings, incorporating his knowledge of building pathology. Mark is also actively engaged in Party Wall work, principally across areas of prime London real estate where basements are often a significant feature. Other work includes producing expert witness reports, dealing with boundary matters, together with general mediation and negotiation skills in situations where disputes have arisen.

His approach seeks to combine a clear understanding of a given building together with an appreciation for his client's particular criteria/requirements, where the use of various soft skills (e.g. listening and communicating) are considered highly important.

Mark’s aim is to grow the business by growing the people within it.

Lucy Shalev
BSc (Hons), CSRT, MFPWS, AssocRICS (Registered Valuer)

Party Wall Matters: As a practical and pragmatic party wall practitioner, Lucy’s straightforward approach is much appreciated on standard party wall jobs, which involve simple extensions and alterations. She firmly believes that party wall matters should be kept in proportion for these types of works and that with clear and early communication between architects, builders, clients, and neighbours we can navigate the party wall process quickly and smoothly without excessive cost to the client.

Lucy is a member of both the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors and an associate member of the Pyramus and Thisbe Society

Residential Surveys and Building Pathology Reports: Lucy undertakes many of our pre-purchase surveys, both Level 2 Homebuyers Reports and more detailed Level 3 Building Surveys and Valuations.

In addition Lucy is a PCA qualified Damp and Timber Surveyor and undertakes both pre-purchase damp and timber surveys as well as more in depth and complex building pathology surveys and environmental monitoring (useful when trying to understand the causes of condensation and mould issues).

Daniel Rowe (Senior Project Surveyor)

With extensive experience refurbishing Cambridge college accommodation, restoring historic listed buildings and carrying out multiple planned preventative maintenance plans, Daniel has comprehensive knowledge of projects with historic value and the intricate detailing required. Daniel also has gained in depth knowledge in zero carbon strategies, whether that be thermal upgrades or sustainable mechanical and electrical enhancements to your existing buildings.

A logical surveyor who thinks outside the box, gripping your projects to achieve quality through conception, design, statutory authority consents, competitive tendering, construction, commissioning, and hand over.

With a HND in structural engineering, not forgetting his first-class honours degree in building surveying, Daniel is not only confident in design but understands the intricate detailing and hard graft that goes into a project, having experienced this first-hand with his own house extension and refurbishment.

Always striving for accuracy and order, you can trust Daniel to make sure your project is as compliant and well thought-out as possible.

Laurette Sherriff (Practice Manager)

Laurette has worked for Martin & Mortimer since 2003. She is responsible for the administration management of the company which includes the preparation and dispatch of the documentation and reports.

Laurette is also our financial administration colleague and any enquiries and queries for the company are dealt with by her.
