After graduating from Cambridge University, Stephen became an Associate of the RICS in 1978. He joined Martin and Mortimer in 1987 and became a partner a year later. Stephen opened the St. Ives office in 1988 and the Ely office in 1989. He moved to North Norfolk in 1997 and has sinced opened offices in Holt, Cromer, Fakenham and Norwich. Given the location, Stephen inspects numerous period properties from small terraces to substantial Listed Farm and Country houses.
Stephen also provides expert witness reports prior to litigation.
Stephen was one of the first qualified Home Inspectors in the country. He has worked as an RICS Assessor, responsible, in part, for approving a student's final qualification as a Chartered Surveyor.
Michael Joined Martin and Mortimer in 1992 and completed his RICS qualifications a year later. Initially working alongside Stephen, Michael took over the running of the St. Ives office in 2000 and became a partner in 2001. Local to the Cambridgeshire area, Michael has responsibility for operations in Cambridgeshire and the periphery.
Michael inspects a wide range of modern and period property but has a particular interest in period buildings.
Michael also provides expert witness reports prior to litigation.
Michael has been interviewed on local radio on behalf of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has also appeared as an expert for a BBC1 consumer programme investigating rogue builders.
After completing a degree in Building Surveying, Andrew joined Martin and Mortimer in 1999 and completed his RICS qualifications in 2002. Andrew was made a partner in 2008. Local to Norfolk, Andrew has responsibility for the Fakenham office covering north and west Norfolk and the periphery.
Andrews main area of expertise is with 19th, 20th and 21st century buildings. With a family background in the building industry, Andrew has a thorough understanding of construction and building pathology.
Mark became an Partner of Martin and Mortimer in December 2010 and brings with him a wealth of property expertise. Based in the Ely office, Mark is primarily involved in Party Wall matters, EPC's and specific defect reports (in particular timber and damp issues).
Mark regularly speaks on the subject of dampness and timber defects in buildings to fellow professionals and for many years ran a company specialising in remedial damp and timber treatment. This gives Mark a unique insight into the subject, having been involved both professionally and from a 'hands-on' perspective.
